He pleaded guilty to more than 10 offences and was sentenced at Bristol Crown Court on Thursday 13 August to 21 years and four months, comprising 13 years in custody and the remainder on licence, alongside a lifetime SHPO.
Martin Connelly, 45, of Unity Street, received a three-year and four-and-four-month prison sentence after being found guilty of a non-recent sexual assault involving a girl under her clothing. Matt Ellett, 32, a Taunton resident and former scout leader, was convicted of 19 offences against five children he befriended through his work. Bristol Live reported that the jury found Ellett guilty of multiple counts of sexual activity with a child, causing or inciting sexual activity, sexual assault, and penetration. He was remanded in custody ahead of sentencing on October 5.
Neil Lawrence, 62, from Poole in Dorset, was sentenced to four-and-a-half years in prison, given an indefinite restraining order, and added to the sex offenders register. As reported by Bristol Live, Lawrence admitted to indecently assaulting a child he knew in 1987, and was found guilty by a jury of multiple counts including assault by penetration, voyeurism, sexual assault, and threatening to disclose private sexual photographs against a woman in 2023.
In another joint case detailed by Bristol Live, Mehrab Safi, 21, from St Werburghs; Salman Habibkheil, 19, from Lockleaze; Awal Ahmadzai, 19; and an unnamed 17-year-old boy were found guilty by a jury at Bristol Crown Court of raping a teenage girl. Safi met the victim during Christmas shopping, and four days later, alongside Habibkheil, arranged her travel back to Bristol where she was assaulted over several hours. They are due to be sentenced on October 6.
Pascal Bitton, 35, of Weston-super-Mare, was sentenced at North Somerset Court on Thursday 11 June to 10 years and six months for offences including rape, sexual assault, inciting a girl to engage in sexual activity, supplying class A and cannabis drugs, and possessing an offensive weapon.
Additionally, Nitesh Nitesh, 20, formerly of Redfield, was sentenced to six years in prison back in June after pleading guilty to involvement in raping a woman in Bristol. Detective Inspector Simon Da Costa described Nitesh as a “dangerous sexual predator,” noting that the streets of Bristol are safer with him imprisoned.
Finally, Robert Caradain, 48, was sentenced in June to 17 years and 10 months in prison for sexual assaults against three victims over nine years, the youngest of whom was five years old. Caradain previously pleaded guilty in March 2024 to historical charges of gross indecency and indecent assault, and was further convicted of three counts of rape and one count of indecent assault against a female over 16 at a trial in December 2025. He was placed on the Sex Offenders Register for life.
